The Dragon Boat Festival on the fifth day of the fifth month of the lunar calendar is one of the traditional folk festivals in my country. The Dragon Boat Festival is also called Duanyang Festival, Wuri Festival, May Festival, Five Days Festival, Ai Festival, Duanwu Festival, Chongwu Festival, Chongwu Festival, Noon Day, Summer Festival, and Pu Festival. It was originally a summer festival to eradicate the plague. Later, the poet Qu Yuan of the Chu State committed suicide by throwing himself into the river on the Dragon Boat Festival, which became a festival to commemorate Qu Yuan (a commemoration of Wu Zixu's death day). There are also different customs in different places. The main contents include: hanging calamus and wormwood, traveling all kinds of diseases, wearing sachets, racing dragon boats, swinging, drinking realgar wine, calamus wine, eating five poisonous cakes, salted eggs, zongzi and seasonal fresh fruits. Dragon boat races of various scales have been held in various places, and families have also made zongzi for the whole family to eat. Although it does not necessarily represent the meaning of commemorating Qu Yuan, this custom has always been preserved. Since 2008, the Dragon Boat Festival has been officially listed as a national legal holiday. On September 30, 2009, the meeting of the UNESCO Intergovernmental Committee for the Protection of Intangible Cultural Heritage decided: China’s Dragon Boat Festival was successfully selected into the "World's Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity."
